The Weekend 11-16 & 11-17 Pt. II

Part II! Mike suggested a game of "Colosseum" and we got down to some good old Roman fun! SUPER close game! He beat me by only one point! Cool game and I like it better with each play!

Next, we played Mike's favorite Richard Borg game, "BattleLore"! Just kidding! It's his least favorite. I'm still puzzled by his attitude towards it. He's explained how he's only miffed about some things and I have to agree with him...to a point. I love the concept of the game and I ALWAYS enjoy it EVERY time I get to play it! Granted, I LOVE it's cousin, "Memoir '44" the most, but it is a great game! The first picture of our game is just before hostilities began. The last picture is when the dust settled and I was victorious! Oh yeah!!

Later today I will be receiving "1960 : The Making of a President" and the German Game of the Year for 2007, "Zooloretto". Check them out on BGG! I looking forward to a good fight for votes with Mike soon! Plus, enjoy an exciting animal collecting game with the kids! See ya!

Ugh! Battlelore!!! Ya know it really sucks that a game with such a great theme can be such a let down. The game is just too topsy turvy. The game is all luck. The luck of the cards, both command cards and Lore cards, the luck of the dice. I like to have some randomness and luck in the games I play but come on this is crazy! I have never played a skirmish game like this where you can invest so many resources into an attack and fail so completely. In battlelore you can literately lose everything with just a couple of bad rolls, countered by good rolls from your opponent.

Also you are forgetting the third game of El Grande that we played with the expansion cards. Also don't forget about Magic.

Ahh, yes. I did forget the third game of EG! Speaking of EG, I plan to get another game of it in with my mom and aunt soon! I'm stoked that they like it! It's cool with 3, but a little frustrating! Haha! How can I forget MTG?! Oh well!

I've been thinking about giving up on BattleLore all together. You and Ed don't care for it and I don't see myself playing it with anyone else. It's no big deal. I may sell it all on eBay after the holidays. Maybe early Spring when people have some more money to spend.

I do have to say that some of the new stuff does help the game a little bit I especially like the random set up cards from Call to Arms and the specialist give you the chance to give your army so variety, but some stuff like the goblin drummers are just stupid, they just make up for the fact that the goblins were to handicapped in the beginning. I would hate to see you sell all your stuff the game has potential, but if you had to choose between keeping Battlelore or Memoir I would say Memoir is the better game, even if I like the theme of Battlelore better.
